(April 11, 2016 – Norfolk, VA) – Congressman Bobby Scott announced today that he is endorsing Virginia state Sen. Kenneth Cooper Alexander for mayor of Norfolk in the May 3, 2016, city elections.
“We need to make sure we elect a good person as Mayor of the city of Norfolk and we got a good candidate,” he said. “That’s why I’m over here supporting Ken Alexander. I’ve known him a long time and he’s going to make a great Mayor.”
At a luncheon today in Norfolk, Congressman Scott discussed the value of early childhood education, after school programs, and the importance of experienced local leadership.
“He’s got experience in the House of Delegates, in the state Senate, he’s a businessman in the community, knows everybody, knows what the city needs,” said Congressman Scott. “So we need to make sure we get people out to vote.”
“I’m appreciative of Congressman Scott’s endorsement,” said Kenny Alexander. “We share mutual goals in promoting and preserving good commonsense government, including encouraging citizen participation, standing up for transparency and freedom of information, and building strong relationships for solving problems and tapping opportunities.”
Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott is currently serving his twelfth term in Congress representing the 3rd District of Virginia. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1978 to 1983 and in the Senate of Virginia from 1983 to 1993.
