Priorities for Norfolk in the Upcoming Session

Posted by Kenny Alexander on January 06, 2016

With the General Assembly convening in less than two weeks, I have been busy meeting with city and state leaders to be sure our legislative priorities are both known and achieved. As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, we will be working through the first state budget to exceed $100 billion.

Needless to say, I recognize the responsibility I have to ensure that our region receives fair and equitable funding for transportation, education, public safety and social services. Additionally, I’ll be pursuing funding for workforce readiness programs, entrepreneurial enterprises and training to help our military members transition to civilian jobs. All of this will help us continue to diversify and grow our economy, creating good paying jobs.

Please keep an eye on this site for updates from Richmond on important issues and the budget.
