U.S. Sen. Mark Warner today announced that he has endorsed Virginia state Sen. Kenneth Cooper Alexander for mayor of Norfolk in the May 3, 2016, city elections.
“Kenny and I have worked together since 1996, and I am pleased to support his candidacy,” said Senator Warner. “As businessmen, we share a mutual approach to budgetary issues and fiscal responsibility, and I know Kenny understands the importance of reaching across the political aisle to solve problems. Kenny is a solid choice for Norfolk voters.”
Warner served as Governor from 2002 to 2006 and has been a member of the United States Senate since 2008.
“I am honored to have the support of my good friend, Mark Warner,” said Kenny Alexander. ”And I look forward to continuing to work to improve our city’s public education system, transportation infrastructure, public safety, and economic development by focusing on job creation, workforce development, and governmental transparency.”
